Grenfell Tower Appeal update

Everyone in London and the rest of the UK has been shocked by the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower. Following the news last week, LCF responded quickly and set up a fundraising appeal with the Evening Standard to raise much-needed funds for the residents and their families.

So far, the response from individuals and businesses across London, the UK and worldwide, has been truly overwhelming. We have raised more than £4.5 million and we have already started to distribute the funds to the community, prioritising meeting immediate needs.

  • As of Tuesday, Grenfell Tower residents have been able to pick up cash payments of £1,000 per flat to be able to meet their immediate needs. Locations to pick up these payments are: The Rugby Portobello Trust and the Al-Manaar mosque
  • Ten community organisations who are providing assistance on the ground have received £5,000 each – with further grants to local organisations in the area to be made

We anticipate that the community will soon need further assistance with rehoming costs, bills, insurance claims, funeral costs, counselling and legal advice. We are in the process of designing our long-term response to the needs of the community around Grenfell Tower, consulting with the local community groups, other funders and local residents so that their views inform our response.

Keep up to date with further updates in our News section.
